Campus and Community
Partnership for Environmental Sustainability
About us
Mission statement
This program seeks to create a long term relationship between Hunter college and its surrounding communities to address the climate and environmental impacts affecting the quality of life of residents. The mission is to join the University with its surrounding communities in an equitable and just way that utilizes the expertise and resources that each brings to this important issue. The aim is to produce actionable knowledge that is accessible and useful for the community to produce long lasting changes (e.g. policy changes).
Values
This program believes that communities should have the power and ability to speak for themselves and the university should assist and amplify their voices. We believe that all university and community partnerships should first and foremost be equitable regarding workload, knowledge sharing, and funding. All project aims will be created with direct input from the communities they seek to help and any data and information will be shared back into the communities. The program seeks to be a long term relationship where projects build on one another to create long lasting change. Moments for evaluation will be built into the program structure to make sure these values and aims remain important and are continuously met.
